About this experience
You will climb to an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, enjoy fantastic landscapes, and recharge with the power and energy of the legendary Etna. You will also hear ancient Greek legends associated with it and learn about the incredible history of the Sicilian beauty!
What to expect
Beauty of volcanic expanses
Along the picturesque slopes of the volcano, you will drive to an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level and see the extinct craters of Silvestri. I will tell you how Etna formed and what was here before, what trees and fruits grow on its slopes, why Etna is called the 'nurse of Sicily,' and what a stratovolcano is. Moreover, you will visit Hephaestus and understand why the ancient Greek god of craftsmanship chose this place for permanent residence.
Ascent to the summit
If you wish, you can continue the tour independently: climb by cable car to the active craters at an altitude of 2550 meters and then by jeep to the very top of Etna. There, you will be greeted by a guide who will tell you about the volcano in English or Italian.
Organizational details
- You will need your own (or rented) car to conduct the tour.
- We can meet in Taormina, Giardini Naxos, or on the way to Mount Etna.
- Bring a windbreaker or light jacket.
- Footwear should be closed-toe. Sneakers are the perfect choice.
- The cost of the cable car and jeep to the summit is 63 euros per person.
