Armenia is not just about barbecue and brandy. We are happy to reveal the diversity of the national cuisine to you. You will visit a unique cheese factory known for its non-standard cheeses - matured in wine and stored underground like treasures. In the house of a local resident, in the village of Lchashen, we will have lunch with trout, which we will cook together. Gastronomic impressions will be complemented by the guide's stories about the history of the region and a visit to two ancient monasteries.
What to Expect
Monastery of Hayravank on the shore of Lake Sevan. You will understand why the monastery is called 'Pigeon's' - the guide will share a beautiful legend of how the residents found refuge in it during the invasion of Tamerlane's troops on Armenia. They will also tell you about the Urartu state, which made this land its home, as well as about Lake Sevan and the mystery of its name.
Mikaelian Cheese Factory and Cheese Tasting. You will meet non-standard varieties not found in stores and try 10 types of cheeses. From the cheese factory hosts, you will learn if it is possible to combine Roquefort and Camembert mold in one cheese, as well as other gastro secrets.
Kotavank Monastery. You will admire the medieval monument and find out how the monastery got its name.
Lchashen and Trout for Lunch. You will visit a village where the ruins of a fortress from 3 thousand years BC were discovered. Here, in the cozy house of a local resident, we will cook trout, and then we will all sit down at the table and have a real feast of taste.

- In these places, the temperature is always lower than in Yerevan, and it is windy. We recommend dressing warmer.
