About this experience
Lubeck is a truly unique city. A city that was founded three times. Its entire center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with over 1000 houses that are architectural landmarks. Lubeck's skyline is adorned with seven church spires. In the Middle Ages, it was one of the wealthiest cities in Europe. Legends, stories, and tales of local traditions will accompany you throughout the entire city tour.
Program
- We will start the walking tour of the old city, which is located on an island, of course, at the city's symbol - the Holsten Gate.
- We will pass by the former salt storehouses to the Town Hall Square, where the most important events of the city took place in the Middle Ages. We will explore one of the oldest and most beautiful town halls in Germany.
- We will visit the marzipan museum. In the shop at the museum, you can buy and taste this famous Lubeck delicacy.
- The St. Mary's Cathedral, built of 5 million fired bricks, holds a vast number of both serious and curious stories. It served as a model for many brick Gothic churches in northern Germany.
- We will see the houses of all three Nobel Prize laureates, visit the Hospital of the Holy Spirit, opened in the 14th century, and take a walk through Lubeck's courtyards - narrow lanes that are also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These lanes are the main feature that sets Lubeck apart from other ancient German cities.
