About this experience
Just an hour by train - and we are in Kamakura surrounded by forests and mountains. Its ancient rulers patronized the development of religion and art, so the city has many temples. You will see the most authentic and interesting ones! You will also admire the giant Buddha statue, stroll through the colorful shopping street, and enjoy the view of Kamakura from above.
What to Expect
Top Places in Kamakura
You will visit the main temple in Kamakura - Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. Enjoy the panoramic view of the city from its observation deck, explore the shrines of the gods, and learn about the specifics of Shintoism. Then take a walk along the bustling shopping street Komachi Dori, where you can buy souvenirs and have lunch. But our adventures will not end there! By a short train ride, we will head to the magnificent Hasedera Temple. Located on a hill, it will delight you with a view of the ocean.
Buddha Statue and Cave Temple
Another symbol of Kamakura is the huge bronze Buddha statue on the site of the destroyed Kotoku-in Temple. Optionally, we can go inside the statue. You will also visit a cave temple dedicated to the gods of wealth and luck. Fun fact: in the cave, there is a spring with holy water where visitors wash money and credit cards to make more of it. Finally, we will stroll to the station through the narrow streets of a residential area with private houses and cozy courtyards.
