About this experience
From the bustling crowds of Tokyo, you will travel to the idyllic Kamakura with traditional buildings, the ocean, ancient temples, and enchanting Eastern gardens. Then, you will journey into the future and find yourself in the port city of Yokohama with lights, skyscrapers, and restaurants. I will help you 'decode' what you see and reveal the unique character of Japan.
What to Expect
Historical Kamakura
Kamakura is a small town that is home to a whopping 167 temples. I will tell you about the history of this ancient settlement over the centuries: what it was like here 800 years ago, how the way of the samurai 'Bushido' originated, and how Minamoto no Yoritomo managed to first establish himself with the right to pass on his title by inheritance. Additionally, you will visit the Buddhist temple Hasedera, explore the ancestral estate of the Minamoto family, and admire the famous bronze Buddha statue.
Modern Yokohama
The port city of Yokohama tells a completely different story, more connected to the future than the past. We will stroll along the ultra-modern waterfront, ascend to the observation deck of the 300-meter Landmark Tower, and enjoy a wonderful view of the city, port, Ferris wheel, and Mount Fuji. I will share what else Yokohama is famous for and how it became one of Japan's largest centers of foreign trade.
