What to Expect
Legendary Khor Virap Monastery
Located at the foot of Mount Ararat, this sanctuary is one of the most important spiritual symbols of the country. Learn about its past and its role in the history of Christianity in Armenia. Discover inspiring views of the surroundings from the best angles. Also, learn about the ancient capital of Artashat that was located here and the famous figures associated with the place - including Hannibal and Gregory the Illuminator.
Another ancient capital - Dvin
We continue our journey through Antiquity. Next on the program is a significant city that was part of the Silk Road and played a major role in the entire Middle East. Take a walk through the open archaeological area and imagine the scenes of long-gone events and epochs.
Armenian Mars
To wrap up, we will ascend to the Artashat Pass, offering a beautiful view of the mountain river Azat and the reservoir. It is a stunning location reminiscent of Martian landscapes. Enjoy the view, take photos, and then we'll head back.
Organizational Details
- The trip will be in a comfortable car (Mercedes/Honda/Fiat)
- Entrance to the Dvin archaeological site is free
- Make sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing - depending on the season, I will advise on what to bring
