About this experience
In this trip, you will embark on a journey through harmonious Japanese landscapes: ancient Japanese cedars, Lake Ashi, and bubbling hot springs. On the way to Mount Fuji, I will introduce you to medieval stories and military life at the Tokaido highway checkpoint. A boat ride on a pirate ship, a cable car ascent, a story about the 'longevity eggs,' and the Dragon Temple gates cutting into the water surface are what will make this journey memorable for you!
What to Expect
Medieval Heritage
You will visit the former northern outpost of Japan - Odawara Castle, which once passed from one samurai clan to another, learn about the history of this place, and admire the panoramic view of the picturesque surroundings from the observation deck. After that, we will head to Hakone Checkpoint - a recreated part of the famous Tokaido highway. There you will see restored wooden buildings, serving as barracks, prisons, and other premises, and get an idea of the daily life of not only soldiers but also Japanese people of past centuries. At the Nine-Headed Dragon Temple, you will hear a legend about the monster and see Lake Ashi through the frame of red gates immersed in water.
Incredible Nature of Japan
On the way to the snow-white Odawara Castle, you will admire the coast of Sagami Bay for a long time, where the water seems to be of different colors depending on the weather. Along the 'Samurai Alley,' you will breathe in the fresh air with the scent of Japanese cedars - cryptomerias, and at the Owakudani Valley of Great Boiling, you will see the outlines of Mount Fuji through the steam of sulfur springs. The delightful views from the water on Lake Ashi and from the height of the cable car, laid over the valley, will remain in your memory as features of Japan's almost untouched by civilization.
