About this experience
You will see the Japan you've been waiting for - the perfect cone of Mount Fuji and its reflection in the calm waters, amazing kimonos, authentic shrines, and traditional houses. A high-speed train from Tokyo will whisk you away to a postcard-perfect landscape, while I introduce you to this amazing country: telling you about faith and pride, nature and art.
What to Expect
The journey to Kawaguchiko will take 2.5 hours, but it won't be boring: you will see mountainous landscapes whizzing by, and I will tell you about the places we will visit, immerse you in the life of Japan, and give you valuable tips on vacationing in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Lake and Shrine: Harmony of Nature and Nature of Harmony
Upon arrival, you will see the great Mount Fuji on the horizon. We will explore the unique Kawaguchiko Station, stroll along the lakeside beach, and soak in the atmosphere of the resort town. I'm sure you won't be able to take your eyes off Fuji - especially if you are here during cherry blossom season or the vibrant red maple leaves. I will help you appreciate the beauty of the volcano: telling you about its name and the revered goddess of Fujisan.
Further immersion into mysterious Japan awaits you at the ancient shrine - one of those from which pilgrimages to the summit of Fuji traditionally began. Here is the enchanting alley of Japanese cedars. As we walk along it, we will talk about Shintoism and its role in Buddhism, the legends of the shrine, and the traditional arrangement of Japanese sanctuaries.
Fascinating Crafts of Japan
Not far from Lake Kawaguchiko, you will visit a museum that I believe everyone dreaming of touching true beauty should visit. Here are the works of Kubota Itiku, who recreated the lost technique of painting and decorating kimonos in 'tsujigahana' style. Every stitch is mesmerizing! You will learn about the meanings imbued in this art, the fate of the master, and his connection to Russia.
Your introduction to crafts will continue in the village of Iyashi no Sato, restored after a flood. You will see how the Japanese lived on the cusp of the 19-20th centuries and examine items made of porcelain, glass, and wood, while once again enjoying a view of Fuji.
