Sulak Canyon is an incredible wonder of nature! You will not only see it from viewing platforms but also descend to the water. Optionally, you can take a ride on a speedboat and then go paddleboarding on the Chirkey Reservoir. On the way, we will show you the most picturesque locations of Dagestan, so pay attention to your surroundings!
What to Expect
We specifically decided to conduct this tour by jeeps to show you as many remote places of Dagestan as possible. So, the program includes:
- Departing from Makhachkala at 8 a.m., we will head to Zubutli village. While you enjoy the mesmerizing views, the guide will tell you historical facts about the local residents and how the village was revived after a terrible earthquake in 1970.
- Next stop is Sulak Canyon, the deepest in Europe. We will drive straight to the water: if you wish, you can take a boat ride on it.
- Then, we will have lunch at Persian Garden. The menu, of course, includes dishes of the national cuisine. You will try khinkal with meat and broth, chudu, grilled trout, and tea made from mountain herbs.
- After that, several viewing platforms await you on the Sulak Canyon and Chirkey Reservoir – both popular and completely unknown ones. You will learn about the history of the hydroelectric power station construction and other facts about these places.
- Next, we will descend to Chirkey Reservoir, and those willing can enjoy a paddleboarding session. Before starting, there will be a short briefing to ensure that everyone can conquer the water on boards.
- By request, we can visit Sarykum Barkhan – a real sandy desert between the mountains and the Caspian Sea.
- We can also organize a trip to the "Nokho" cave complex with an exit to a suspension bridge located 70 meters above the Sulak River. Do you love thrills? Then the zipline is for you! And there is even a café built right into the rock here.
Organizational Details
- We will meet you at the airport or any point in the city and take you back after the excursion. The trip is held in comfortable off-road vehicles: Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus, Mercedes Viano, Patriot. Transport expenses are included in the price.
- Bring your passport, headgear, and sunglasses.
- We recommend following the dress code (your clothing should not be too revealing). Drinking alcohol and smoking in public places are prohibited during the trip.
- I will guide the tour for you or another guide from our team.
Additional expenses (optional):
- Boat trip – 5000-7000 rubles per group depending on the route. If boats are unavailable on Sulak, we will ride on the Chirkey Reservoir.
- Trip to Sarykum Barkhan – 2000 rubles per group
- Trip to the "Nokho" cave complex - 2000 rubles per group
- Lunch – 500-600 rubles per person
- Cave entrance – 500 rubles on weekdays, 700 rubles on weekends
- Zipline – 1000 rubles
- Tarzan jump – 5000 rubles
- Also available is a route through Khubar village (opposite side of the canyon) +2 hours to the excursion with a visit to a viewing platform – 4000 rubles.
