About this experience
"Anyone who has been here once will remember the Caucasus forever!" - we invite you to see it for yourself and head to Dombay with us. You will rejuvenate your soul in pristine places: ride the cable car up to 3000 meters, see the unusually colored Lake Kara-Kyol and the purest Ullu-Murudju river. And we will share stories about the chronicles, legends, and traditions of the region.
What to expect
Picturesque road towards Elbrus
We start from Essentuki early in the morning and head towards Karachay-Cherkessia (don't forget to notice the picturesque herds of sheep along the way). On the way through the Gum-Bashi pass, we will stop at a viewpoint overlooking the majestic Elbrus, which takes your breath away. You will learn about local villages and, passing them by, you will find yourself at the 'cheese rocks' - a textured rock formation. We will also drive through the cities of Karachayevsk and Teberda.
Dombay and surrounding areas
Upon arrival in the village of Dombay, you will have to conquer the mountains in the cable car cabin. It stops at three points: at each one, you can get out, and then go up or down again. You will have enough free time to enjoy the mountain views and crystal-clear air. At altitudes of 2277, 3008, and 3200 meters above sea level, you will see the Caucasus range and the Alibek Gorge with a waterfall.
On the way there or back, you will also see Lake Kara-Kyol, which changes color depending on the weather, and stop by the Ullu-Murudju river, whose water is so clean that you can drink it.
