About this experience
Heading to Changu Island with its paradise beaches, turquoise bays, and fantastic inhabitants - the Seychelles tortoises! In the reserve, you will observe the 200-year-old giants, feed them by hand, and learn about the reptiles' habits. In the second part of the journey, you will uncover the secrets of Prison Island and swim in the open ocean.
What to Expect
Prison Island… and giant turtles!
By boat from Zanzibar, we will reach the protected island of Changu (Prison Island) - one of the few places in the world where you can observe the local Seychelles giant tortoises of Aldabra. Strong shells resembling boulders, columnar powerful legs: you will see the colossal reptiles, take photos of them, pet them, and even feed them. I will tell you about the habits and peculiarities of turtles, many of which are around 200 years old, and then we will explore another part of the island where an abandoned prison was located. This place holds many secrets: for instance, during epidemics, the prison was used as an isolation ward, which is why Changu is sometimes called Quarantine Island.
Sands, waves, and corals
In addition to the amazing turtles and prison ruins, Changu can boast splendid beaches with powdery white sand, coral reefs, and interesting underwater inhabitants. You will have time to swim in the turquoise bays of the island and even in the open ocean.
