About this experience
Beyond Old Bukhara there are many amazing places. You will visit the summer residence of the last emir of the city, explore the ancient necropolis of Chor Bakr, and visit the famous Sufi complex of Naqshbandi. And I will share interesting facts related to them.
What to expect
Bukhara from a different perspective
We will explore the surrounding areas of Bukhara, revealing its history, traditions, and culture in a new way. The tour program includes:
- Chor-Minor Madrasah - an interesting example of modernism in Central Asia. I will tell you under what circumstances the madrasah was built, how its appearance changed over time, and what is the reason for its unusual architecture.
- Sitorai-Mokhi-Khosa Palace - we will visit the summer residence of the last emir of Bukhara, built in Mauritanian style with elements of Russian classicism. Inside, you will see samples of ancient decorative art and palace utensils.
- Chor-Bakr Necropolis - you will walk through a medieval abode where local sheikhs rest. You will also see two operating mosques with amazing acoustics and luxurious decor.
- Naqshbandi Memorial Complex - we will visit one of the most important Muslim shrines dedicated to the Sufi, mystic, and philosopher Bahauddin Naqshband. You will see his tomb, walk in the beautiful garden, and examine several mosques and madrasahs.
