About this experience
Have you already seen Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa and would like to explore Tuscany beyond the well-known routes? Then I invite you on a journey through the medieval borghi! We will visit 4 enchanted villages where time seems to stand still. We'll stroll along stone streets, have coffee in the squares, enjoy the beauty and Italian rural charm.
What to expect
Tuscany is a truly magical land, scattered with medieval villages called "borghi." They will allow you to touch the past and feel the pastoral Italian spirit. The excursion program includes:
Borgo Cennina. This amazing place in the heart of the Val d'Ambra valley best preserves the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. You will see the ruins of an ancient Etruscan castle and hear its history. You'll reach the small church on the north side of the castle and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view. And I will share a funny story that made this borgo "ring" in all the newspapers of the world.
Borgo Ambra. We will wander through narrow stone streets, enjoying the views of the river and rural atmosphere. Over a cup of aromatic coffee in the central square, overlooking the ancient castle with a bell tower, I will tell you about local traditions and everyday life.
Borgo Sonna. A wonderful village, the name of which means "Dream." It is cozy, quiet, peaceful, and usually devoid of people. It's like our personal corner of paradise. Sonna will be remembered for its tiny streets and paths where you can wander endlessly. And also for its small gazebos, entwined with greenery and drowning in flowers. Sometimes it seems that a little elf will appear from behind the rosemary bush.
On the way back, we will visit the last, fourth borgo. Let me not reveal it in advance - let this place be a surprise for you!
Organizational details
- You will need to independently take a train from Florence to Montevarchi station, where I will meet you by car. Travel time - 37 minutes, ticket cost - 6.60 euros.
