About this experience
Arezzo has given to the world a galaxy of great men. Among them are the Patron, whose name became a household word, the inventor of notes - Guido the Monk, Michelangelo, Vasari and others. The local temples have preserved masterpieces of painting that have influenced world art. And the streets of Arezzo are full of jewelry shops and authentic stores. I will immerse you in the atmosphere and history of this amazing little town, so that you fall in love with it irretrievably, just like me.
What to Expect
In Arezzo, no one is in a hurry anywhere. Here you can truly imbibe the Tuscan spirit without crowds of tourists and locals rushing past. Strolling through the medieval streets and squares, we will see the most iconic places in the city:
- Basilica of St. Francis, preserving a masterpiece of world art - the cycle of frescoes by Piero della Francesca "History of the True Cross"
- One of the favorite churches of Aretines - with a unique facade, hiding from the casual passerby a medieval calendar
- The largest square in the city, where twice a year knightly tournaments of Saracens, described by the poet Dante Alighieri, take place
- The house where Francesco Petrarch was born
- The main cathedral - the first Gothic church in Tuscany, painted with frescoes similar to the Sistine Chapel. There you will see unique stained glass windows by the French master Marsilio.
- Basilica of Dominicans, preserving an extraordinary work that changed all European painting
- Bishops' Palace - the only historical residence open to the public after the Papal Apartments in the Vatican
- 18th-century Palace - I will show you what it hides from foreigners
