Istanbul with Charisma: From Balat to Bosphorus with a Historian Guide
About this experience
To truly understand Istanbul, it's not enough to just see Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque: we invite you to discover the unexplored aspects of the city! With a guide, you will wander through the Balat district with its colorful facades and atmospheric streets, haggle at the Grand Bazaar and the Egyptian market. You will visit the tomb of Sultan Suleiman, and then enjoy the city while cruising through the Bosphorus.
What to expect
Vibrant colors of Balat
First, we will explore the unique and non-touristy Balat. Its neighborhoods will amaze you with atypical Istanbul architecture, colorful facades perfect for photo hunting, and atmospheric cafes. Additionally, here you will discover a treasure trove of urban stories and see the "other" Istanbul - bright, stylish, and charismatic.
Chronicles of Suleymaniye Mosque
The Ottoman era of the city will unfold before you in the Suleymaniye Mosque - one of the largest and most iconic in Istanbul. You will hear interesting details from the life of the legendary Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Roxelana, see their tombs, and get acquainted with the architect Mimar Sinan.
Atmosphere of Eastern markets
Istanbul cannot be imagined without its markets, filled with the noise of lively trade and the aromas of spices. At the Egyptian market, you will taste Eastern sweets, floral teas, and spices. The Grand Bazaar will appear as a real "city within a city": we will stroll through its main street and immerse ourselves in the past of Constantinople.
Conquer the Bosphorus
At the end of the walk, we will move away from the shores of Istanbul to admire it from the water. Sailing on the waves of the Bosphorus, on the open deck, you will see Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Galata Tower, Rumeli Hisar Fortress, and Dolmabahce Palace from a new perspective. And you will be able to grasp at a glance the panorama of the entire European Istanbul!
