About this experience
Your first impression of Istanbul will be bright and profound. You will discover a city where cultures and civilizations have intersected since ancient times. Learn about the history, architecture, and interesting details of the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, and Hagia Sophia. Visit the colorful Egyptian Spice and Sweets Market. Finally, enjoy the views during a 2-hour cruise along the Bosphorus.
What to Expect
Blue Mosque, or Sultanahmet. This sanctuary is rightfully considered Istanbul's 'visiting card'. We will explore this elegant and grandiose structure inside and out. I will reveal why the mosque has two names, how it was built, and why it has six minarets.
Hippodrome Square - the sports and social center of Constantinople. What competitions were held here and how was the arena organized? You will hear the answers to these questions and see the preserved obelisks and monuments of the ancient Hippodrome.
Hagia Sophia Basilica (mosque). You will trace the amazing journey of the basilica, understand its importance to the world, learn about the 'golden age' of Byzantium and its famous frescoes.
Egyptian Bazaar - a fragrant stop on our route. The second largest market in Istanbul after the Grand Bazaar. Here, we will talk about Turkish sweets and spices, which I will help you choose and buy.
Bosphorus Cruise. I am sure that you cannot get to know our city without sailing along the legendary strait. The cruise lasts 2 hours, so you will have time to admire the sights from the Golden Horn bay to the second Bosphorus Bridge and take photos.
