About this experience
Edinburgh is where the past and present of Scotland meet. I have combined the most important attractions of the Old and New Town into one route. Together, we will spend a whole day. We will stroll along the Royal Mile, immersing ourselves in the dark times of the Middle Ages. We will visit Edinburgh Castle, Rosslyn Chapel, and the National Gallery. We will discuss local traditions, history, and culture.
What to Expect
Old Town
You will visit Edinburgh Castle, walk along the medieval Royal Mile, and see the Holyrood Palace - the official residence of British monarchs in Scotland. You will appreciate the country's first Presbyterian church and visit the graveyard where the father of world economics, Adam Smith, is buried. Optionally, you can have coffee with traditional Scottish pastries or have lunch at the Parliament cafe.
New Town
We will visit the Scottish National Gallery of Art, where you will admire works by Rembrandt, the impressionists, and other artists of the past. After that, we will drive to the outskirts of Edinburgh - to the famous 15th-century Rosslyn Chapel. This mysterious sacred place is where, according to legend, the Holy Grail is kept. After exploring it, we will return to the city center.
