About this experience
Have you heard the phrase 'If you're tired of London, you're tired of life'? Walking with me through the city, you will not only see the main attractions, but also feel the rhythm and atmosphere of the English capital, understand how the locals live, and hear the buzz of the central streets. London is diverse, and I will be happy to immerse you in its color.
What to Expect
The City within the City
The City of London is the business and financial center of England and one of the capitals of world business, so not visiting there means not seeing London. I'll show you historic mansions and modern skyscrapers, lead you to places with picturesque views and unusual angles, tell you about the history of the city, and share local legends. You'll learn who and when founded London and what this strange word means, see one of the most mysterious places in the fashionable quarter, and understand why the jurisdiction of Scotland Yard does not apply in the City, and the king needs to ask the mayor for permission to visit this part of the city.
Also included in our program:
- Inner courtyard of one of London's most beautiful palaces - Somerset House, where newspapers from all over the country were brought daily up until the mid-19th century.
- 'Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese' - one of the oldest establishments in the capital, where you'll learn how to become a favorite or sworn enemy of the owner of any English pub in a minute.
- The High Court of England: on its steps, you may encounter a real judge in traditional robe and wig.
- St. Bride's Church with its unusual history and mysterious underground, where, if desired, you can descend.
- St. Paul's Cathedral - a replica of the famous St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican, whose grandeur will be one of the most vivid impressions of the walk.
- Tate Modern Museum, where you'll learn how the famous trickster and patron Henry Tate made his first fortune.
- The legendary Shakespearean 'Globe Theatre' - the first English theater with a very ironic history.
- A replica of the ship of the famous English pirate Francis Drake, visiting which you'll learn how England managed to become the 'Mistress of the Seas.'
- The colorful street market 'Borough Market'. I'll tell you how it received a charter from King Edward VI and introduce you to a variety of national dishes.
Living History
Additionally, you'll find out where the tomb of the Templar knights is located and hear the story of their mysterious disappearance. Visit the place where until the 90s the center of English journalism was located, and understand why in London you should look up more often. We'll walk along a unique pedestrian bridge throbbing with the steps of passersby and take in the view of central London. And in conclusion, we'll approach the great Tower - a fortress, prison, and the king's residence. I'll tell you how it happened that people still live in the famous fortress, although the last prisoners left its walls in the last century.
