About this experience
Georgia is the cradle of winemaking with an 8,000-year history. In the mountainous Adjara region, where we will go in a group of up to 10 people, ancient traditions are passed down from generation to generation, ensuring quality and excellent taste of wine. We will drive through picturesque gorge and visit a winemaker's house, where you will not only taste different varieties of wine but also enjoy lively national dances.
What to expect
Visit to a winemaker
We will depart from Batumi to Machakhela Gorge. The journey will take about an hour. Along the way, you will enjoy the views and listen to my stories about wine culture in Georgia. We will make stops at beautiful locations such as the confluence of two rivers, Kostaneti waterfall, and an observation deck. Then we will arrive at the courtyard where a local resident makes top-notch wine. There you will:
- Visit the vineyard and cellar
- Taste homemade wines and chacha
- Experience family hospitality
- Understand why Georgian thinking and traditions revolve around wine
- Learn about the production techniques, why Qvevri wine is UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage, and more
- Discover Adjarian folklore - lively national dances
- And much more!
🍽 After the wine tasting, if desired, we will stop at a local restaurant for lunch or dinner where you can try dishes of the national cuisine.
Organizational details
Lunch at the restaurant is paid separately. Everything else is included in the price.
