What to expect
The history of Dubrovnik in the heart of the Old Town
Our route will take you through the historical district where the main attractions of Dubrovnik are concentrated. We will meet at the entrance to the Old Town, stroll along the ancient pedestrian Stradun street, and observe the architectural dominants of the main Luža square - the city hall, the bell tower, and the white-stone Church of Saint Blaise. Turning into the narrow streets towards the synagogue, we will talk about the history of the Jewish community in Dubrovnik. Near the Dominican Monastery and the steps of the Church of Saint Ignatius, we will find the well-known filming locations of the 'Game of Thrones' series. Additionally, you will stroll through the old port of Dubrovnik, hear the history of the Cathedral, and learn about who and how governed the city from the Rector's Palace.
Croatian traditions and tips for conquering the city
You will not only learn about the history of Dubrovnik but also understand the mentality and customs of its residents. We will walk through the residential quarters of the Old Town, observing the daily life of locals, discussing Croatian traditions and cuisine. At a small tie shop, you will learn why this clothing item is associated with Croatians. Next to the monument to the playwright Marin Držić, you will make a wish. We will also recommend restaurants where you can taste Croatian dishes and wines, suggest which souvenirs to bring from Dubrovnik, and share ideas for self-guided walks.
