About this experience
Welcome to the city where without any special effects you will be transported straight to the Middle Ages. I will guide you through the old streets of Girona, share local legends about saving flies, vampires, and the 'magic triangle'. You will see Girona from above, taste Michelin ice cream, and unravel the intricacies of Gothic and Baroque.
What to expect
A city of a thousand legends and a thousand steps
On the streets of medieval Girona, you will easily understand why this city served as the backdrop for the series ‘Game of Thrones’. I will help you experience its special atmosphere through local legends: I will reveal the mysteries of architecture, guide you through the ‘magic triangle’ where you can catch luck by the tail, tell you about the city's patron saints and the miracles and legends associated with them, preserved in the Girona chronicles.
The history of Girona on the streets of the Old Town
Step by step, you will discover the most interesting places in the medieval city:
- On the Onyar embankment, we will admire the colorful houses and compare Girona to Florence.
- Next to the church of St. Felix from the 4th century, we will discuss the legend of the flies that saved the city's residents.
- The Monastery of St. Peter will help you imagine medieval life in Girona - we will talk about it while admiring the city's towers from the observation deck of the monastery.
- We will visit the Arab baths from the 13th century and figure out how they appeared in Girona.
- We will discover the ancient Roman heritage of the city and reveal the secret of the ‘coins in the stone’.
- By the Cathedral, we will examine the harmonious combination of Gothic and Baroque styles.
- We will walk on the Eiffel Bridge, built long before the Parisian tower.
- And also, we will stroll along the fortress walls and jewelers street, discuss how the most Girona sweetness is connected to the cheerful acrobat Tarla, talk about the fate of the Jewish Quarter, and pass under the palace of vampires to have a coffee break in the most romantic place in Girona.
After the walk, those who wish to recharge can enjoy Michelin ice cream and visit a restaurant that Salvador Dali and Gala loved to visit.
