About this experience
The format of my tour is a walk with a friend. I always adapt to my guests. If dates are important to you - I will add them to the story. Want to learn history in general terms - please. Light candles in the church - I'll wait nearby. Have a coffee in a cafe - enjoy. During the walk, we will go with you to the heart of Barcelona. I will tell you how its history began, show colorful courtyards, and much more.
What to expect
Gargoyles and their history
Let's start the walk with a visit to the most significant cathedral in Barcelona (and no, it's not Sagrada Familia!). We will climb to its roof and enjoy views of the city from above. I will introduce you to the cathedral's perennial guardians - gargoyles and tell you a few versions of their origin.
Ruins, courtyards, and palm trees
Next, we will pass through a special place that embodies the living history of the city - the ruins of the ancient Roman forum. Along the way, we will visit the oldest palm tree in Barcelona. I will tell you more about where the palm trees in the city came from in the first place. We will also visit the palace square and definitely peek into the picturesque orange courtyard.
Kaganes: for fun and luck
I will introduce you to the unusual Catalan tradition of making figurines of people in a cheeky pose with their pants down. They serve as symbols of fertility and success. The traditional kaganer is a shepherd figurine. Currently, different characters - from ordinary people to famous personalities - are depicted in a funny pose.
The famous La Rambla and the sea
If desired, we will stop at a cafe that complements this place with its cozy atmosphere. And then, at your request, we will walk along the lively and colorful La Rambla promenade and finish the tour on the waterfront. I will give recommendations on how you can continue your walk. You can always turn to me for advice even after the tour - I am not stingy with advice.
If you are going on a tour with children
Please let me know in advance. For children aged 4-10, I have prepared an exciting game with cards depicting symbols of Barcelona. The goal is to find all the objects and receive a very interesting gift. What? Let it be a surprise for you. Children and even adults remain delighted with it.
Organizational details
Additionally, by request, entrance to the cathedral is paid for - €11 and a children's gift - €10.
