Discover how the new residents integrated into Tiflis life, in which districts they settled, and how they enriched the city. Explore the works of German architects and visit the Lutheran Church.
What to expect
Walk along the "German Trails"
You will stroll along the city's central streets and squares, focusing on buildings related to the history of the German community. We will show you the house of the Siemens brothers, who brought the suspended electric telegraph to Tbilisi, and the Lutheran Church of St. Peter and Paul. Also, explore the famous creations of German architects: Simonson's Vorontsov Palace, the Opera and Ballet Theater by Schreter, the National Museum, and Zaltsman's Gallery.
Fascinating Stories
We will share many interesting facts about the German community in Tiflis: why its representatives were called "kukits", how shops with European goods appeared in the city and what they sold, where Germans worked, and how they were received by the locals. Additionally, you will learn about the famous figures of the diaspora: remarkable educators, musicians, doctors, engineers, and industrialists.
