Georgia's Beauties: Borjomi, Mtskheta, and Uplistsikhe
About this experience
This excursion is a combination of natural beauty and historical monuments. At the Jvari Monastery, you will learn about the emergence of Christianity in Georgia, at Uplistsikhe caves you will hear about pagan traditions. In Borjomi, you will admire the green mountains, bathe in sulfur pools, and taste water from famous springs.
What to Expect
The Cradle of Georgian Christianity
We will explore the ancient city of Mtskheta, the first capital of Georgia. It was here in the 4th century that Christianity was declared the state religion of Georgia. You will visit the Jvari Monastery, learn about its creation, and hear about Saint Nino and King Mirian. The stunning nature, the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers, the centuries-old history, and the restored temples will convince you that this place rightfully belongs on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Walls Remember
If Mtskheta is the first capital, then Uplistsikhe cave city is one of the first cities in Georgia, built 2 thousand years ago. I will tell you about its layout and show the remains of architectural and cult structures. You will feel like real archaeologists and time travelers, touching the walls of the ancient city and exploring its caves.
Mountains, Rivers, Waterfalls, and Pools
The road to Borjomi will be accompanied by heartfelt conversations and vibrant colors of lush greenery. In the city, we will stroll through the park and walk to a gazebo where there is a well with natural Borjomi water. And then we will head to the 'second level' of the protected area: walking 20 minutes, by car (there is always someone offering tourists a ride for 15 lari) or by cable car, from the cabins of which an impressive view opens up. At the top, you will see sulfur pools, the water of which is rich in beneficial substances and minerals, so I highly recommend taking a dip!
Organizational Details
- Not included in the excursion price: lunch, tickets to Uplistsikhe (15 lari) and Borjomi (15 lari for the park, 15 lari for the pools), personal expenses.
- I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing empty bottles to fill water from the well and swimming accessories.
- I will pick you up from any convenient location in Tbilisi and drop you off (return to Tbilisi around 19:30-20:00).

Excellent tour - light and dynamic. Especially recommended for families with children. We went with my wife and 11-year-old child. Usually by midday the child starts asking 'when are we going back,' but here he was thrilled - saw the sights, ran around the mountains, climbed into caves, drank Borjom...

Went on a one-day tour to Borjomi with Eric. I was particularly pleased that when I mentioned we would have a small child with us, Eric called me, warned that it would be difficult in the cave city with a stroller, and suggested an alternative route. Customer-oriented! :) Special thanks for sitting ...
