About this experience

Discover the history of the most important company for Eindhoven, Philips. Try intelligent ice cream with an unexpected taste. And meanwhile, you will hear how the country managed to become one of the most advanced in Europe, what the Dutch live on, and how they see happiness.

What to Expect
Bridge from the Future
You will see amazing architectural structures, a design cluster, and one of the must-see locations of the famous Dutch Design Week. Learn about the technology of printing houses, bridges, and internal organs on a 3D printer, about 'smart cities', energy-independent settlements, and the concept of the equal coexistence of humans and nature, as well as about the stress of bats and street art. And over a cup of coffee in a cozy cafe, we will discuss why it is worth coming to Eindhoven for the Design Week and what design projects are already making people's lives easier.
Company that 'Raised' the City
It is impossible to do without stories about the most famous brand of Eindhoven, Philips: it is thanks to it that the city's economy experienced an unprecedented boom. You will learn about the company's role in the daily lives of many people - we will recall the most striking of the thousands of registered patents: the car radio, audio cassette, electric shaver, and digital compact disc. Also, we will talk about the origin of the word 'royal' in the name of the firm, the connection between Philips and the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, as well as the involvement of Karl Marx and the Russian avant-garde. Best City for Life
You will find out why Eindhoven is called the City of Light and why it shines once a year so brightly that it is visible from space. Why Eindhoven turned out to be the best city in terms of quality of life in Europe and what makes it so attractive. What is human-oriented urban design, and why furniture is created from coffee grounds and salt. You will visit buildings that have become icons of the city. And along the way, you will learn where the best bars and viewing platforms are in Eindhoven.
Conversations about the Netherlands and the Dutch
And, of course, in between, we will talk about why this country turned out to be one of the most successful and advanced in the modern world and how it is related to its history, traditions, and national character. You will also try to paint a portrait of the Dutch, hearing about what is important to them, how they envision happiness, how they celebrate holidays, and what kind of education they strive to provide for their children.
