What to expect
Speed, comfort, and convenience
In and back to Bukhara, you will travel by the Afrosiyob high-speed train (tickets are included in the price). In the city, you will be greeted and accompanied throughout the route by a professional guide in a car.
Mosques, minarets, and madrasas
Bukhara was a center of science, culture, and trade in the Middle Ages. It is also a significant religious center of the East. Here, more than in any other city in Central Asia, cult and religious buildings are most fully, brightly, and multifaceted represented. You will see:
- Magokki Attori Mosque - one of three monuments in Bukhara that survived after the invasion of Genghis Khan;
- Gau-Kushon Ensemble - a covered bazaar used for trading expensive silk fabrics;
- Great Minaret and Kalon Mosque - a symbol of Bukhara, serving as a beacon for caravans in the desert over the centuries;
- Ulugbek Madrasa, built by Timur's grandson. Many of its graduates became prominent thinkers and poets;
- Trade Domes - craft rows where you can order original embossing on a tray with your image or the portrait of a loved one;
- Lyabi-Hauz Ensemble - here, next to the honako and madrasa, there is a pond, and also the first synagogue in Bukhara. Cozy eateries operate in the shade of trees where locals often come for pilaf.
