About this experience
In the Middle Ages, Bukhara was a center of science, culture, and trade. It is also a significant spiritual center of the East. Here, like in no other city in Central Asia, cult and religious buildings are the most vividly and multifaceted presented. You will comfortably reach Bukhara and explore its monuments, chat with craftsmen at the bazaar, and try local pilaf.
What to expect
- You will travel to Bukhara and back on the high-speed train 'Afrosiab'. One way journey will take only 1.5 hours.
- Departure from Samarkand station – at 09:50, arrival in Bukhara – at 11:19.
- In Bukhara, you will be met and accompanied throughout the route by a guide from our team.
- After the tour, you will be escorted back to the station.
- Departure from Bukhara – at 15:50, arrival in Samarkand at 17:20.
The tour includes the historical center listed by UNESCO. You will see mosques, minarets, and madrasas. You will see how simple life is boiling next to luxurious palaces drowning in greenery. And you will feel the special spirit of the city, which is felt both in architecture and in everyday rituals.
In our program:
- Magokki Attori Mosque – one of the three monuments in Bukhara that survived after the invasion of Genghis Khan.
- Gau-Kushon Ensemble – a covered market used for trading expensive silk fabrics.
- Great Minaret and Kalyan Mosque – the symbol of Bukhara, which served as a beacon for caravans in the desert for centuries.
- Ulugbek Madrasa, built by Timur's grandson. Many of its graduates became prominent thinkers and poets.
- Trading Domes – craft rows where you can order an original stamp on a tray with your image or a portrait of your favorite person.
- Lyabi-Hauz Ensemble – here next to the honako and madrasa is a pond, along with the first synagogue in Bukhara. Cozy eateries work in the shade of trees, where locals often stop by.
