About this experience
Travel comfortably on the high-speed train to Samarkand, where every corner is steeped in the rich history of our ancestors. The city will impress you with its luxurious ancient architecture, rich history, and fairytale atmosphere. We will visit Registan, the mausoleum of Timur, Bibi-Khanym Mosque, and the Shahi-Zinda necropolis. I will keep you entertained on the way and share stories about local traditions and legends.
What to expect
Samarkand - the capital of Timur's empire, the cradle of Central Asian civilization, and an open-air museum. We will visit the main city attractions:
- Gur-Emir Mausoleum - the tomb of the great Timur and his descendants. It is believed to have served as a prototype for the Taj Mahal mausoleum.
- Registan Square - the hallmark of Uzbekistan, the heart of ancient Samarkand. Here you can find Ulugbek Madrasah, Sher-Dor Madrasah, Tilya-Kori Mosque, and Sherdor Mausoleum.
- The Pilaf Center, where we will have lunch with national cuisine dishes.
- Bibi-Khanym Mosque - the oldest architectural ensemble in Samarkand, which is almost 7 centuries old.
- Shahi-Zinda Necropolis - a street lined with mausoleums of women from Timur's family.
- Khoja Daniyar Mausoleum - a unique burial place of a saint, revered in 3 world religions: Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.
- Ulugbek's Observatory. In front of the museum complex entrance, against the background of a wall symbolizing the starry sky, a monument to the medieval astronomer and mathematician Mirzo Ulugbek - the grandson of the famous Timur, is installed.
During the tour you will learn:
- how the city emerged, developed, and who ruled it;
- to which countries Timur led campaigns, what he brought to Samarkand, how he rebuilt the city, and which structures have survived since that time;
- how the European (Russian) part of Samarkand appeared and what makes it special;
- what legends exist in our nation;
- and much more!
