About this experience
Get ready for an exciting journey from Jerusalem to the north of Israel along the sacred footsteps of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Saint Peter. You will visit the main places described in the New Testament and delve into their history.
Program
- Early morning departure from Jerusalem to the east into the Judean Desert, where we will visit the Monastery of Saint Gerasimus and discuss the beginnings of the monastic movement. Then we will visit Qasr el Yahud, where John the Baptist called people to cleanse themselves of sins in the waters of the Jordan River. One of those who came was Jesus.
- We will then head north, passing by Beit She'an (ancient Scythopolis), Tiberias, where those interested can bathe in the waters of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus walked on water.
- Visit the town of Migdal (entrance fee: 10 shekels/person), where Mary Magdalene lived. You will see the ancient synagogue, villas, mikvehs (Jewish ritual bathing pools), a unique fish market, and the ancient port. As well as the modern church Duc in Altum.
- We will then continue to Tabgha, the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish, and the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount (entrance fee: a few shekels depending on car size).
- Visit the ancient Capernaum (Kfar Nahum), where Jesus healed Saint Peter’s mother-in-law (entrance fee: 3 shekels/person), see the house of Saint Peter and the town synagogue.
- From there we will journey into the heart of Galilee. Visit Cana of Galilee, where Jesus performed his first miracle, turning water into wine at a wedding. Those interested can renew their wedding vows here.
- We will conclude our journey in Nazareth, at the Basilica of the Annunciation, the largest church in the Middle East. And after everything, tired and satisfied, we will return home.
