About this experience
The significance of Luxor cannot be underestimated. The history of Egyptian civilization was written here, and a third of the country's oldest monuments are located here. In a comfortable and safe journey, you will explore the main ones: the monumental Karnak Temple, the mysterious Colossi of Memnon, and the rock temple of Hatshepsut. After delving into the past, you will visit the Banana Island and the alabaster and Egyptian oils factories.
What to Expect
From your hotel in Hurghada, you will head to the city of Luxor, which the Nile divides into two parts - the 'city of the dead' in the west and the 'city of the living' in the east. You will explore in detail the main attractions of both cities.
The Grandeur and History of Karnak Temple
You will find yourself among monumental columns and statues of the greatest construction of Ancient Egypt. The construction of Karnak Temple continued for two thousand years: I will tell you about the main pages of these chronicles and about the worship of the god Amun, to whom the complex was dedicated. We will also discuss the significance of symbols in ancient civilization: you will see one of them - the sculpture of a giant scarab beetle - near the sacred lake.
Ancient Sites of the 'City of the Dead'
To reach the western Luxor, you will cross the Nile on boats! Here the following historical sites will be in the spotlight:
- Colossi of Memnon - the two statues, seated on stone pedestals, will once again come to life thanks to tales of the once magnificent funerary temple. You will learn about its history and about the mysterious voice of the 'Sunken God' that used to emanate from the statue at sunrise.
- Temple of Hatshepsut, whose three terraces are carved into the rock: here you will immerse yourself in the history of the only female pharaoh. You will learn about her fate, achievements, and strong character while examining sculptures, reliefs, and drawings on the walls.
💎 🍌 Along the way, you will also visit two factories - alabaster and perfume oil - where you can buy traditional souvenirs. At the end of the tour, if desired, you will stop by Banana Island, where you will learn about the trees growing here and taste seasonal fruits.
