About this experience
Evening aperitif is an important ritual for the French. I suggest experiencing this local tradition by going on a wine tasting in a popular wine bar. You will learn the 'wine' language, discover everything about French drinks, and feel like a true sommelier!
What to expect
Subtleties of Wine Culture
You will be able to order and taste exemplary wines of France from winemaking regions such as Bordeaux, Provence, Burgundy, and Alsace. I will talk about different levels of wine quality and its certification, and explain the differences between oenologists and sommeliers. I will reveal wine drinking secrets, for example, which wine pairs best with seafood, game, and poultry, and whether the drink needs to be chilled before consumption. In addition, you will learn how the French export unpopular wine in the country to the American continent and why it is better not to buy local wines in Russia.
The Best of Provencal Gastronomy
You will taste exquisite French snacks: Camembert cheese, pan-fried with honey and aromatic herbs, or Brie with truffle. Traditional cheese and meat platters or foie gras - you will be treated to a variety of delights from the local cuisine. I will share gastronomic stories of the French Riviera, recommend the best restaurants, and suggest what to bring home from French delicacies.
Sommelier Game
We will learn the 'wine' language in a playful way. You will taste several white and red wines and local rosé, and I will explain how professionals 'get to know' wine. Then, I will distribute sommelier vocabulary cards: they will help you describe the drinks in the correct language. Perhaps the first attempts will be unsuccessful, but after a couple of glasses, you will learn to speak like a true connoisseur of wine culture!
