About this experience
Stroll through the streets of Florence and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Renaissance city, get acquainted with the life and work of Michelangelo Buonarroti. Together we will explore seven works by the artist, after which you will be able to independently and consciously appreciate the genius of the great Italian sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and thinker.
What to Expect
Michelangelo's Familiar Streets and Places
I will take you on the very roads that the maestro walked, tell you about his relationships with the legendary Medici family, the famous technique of marble processing 'non-finito', we will analyze and compare several of his works. You will visit the Medici Chapel and the New Sacristy, where he worked long and hard (and even hid from his patrons). Let's talk about the intrigues and myths surrounding his personality and about the relationship between Michelangelo and another brilliant Florentine - Leonardo da Vinci.
Visit to Palazzo Medici-Riccardi
In the second part of the tour, you will find yourself in the oldest banking house. This 'Palazzo' dates back to the beginning of the 15th century, where Lorenzo the Magnificent and Catherine de' Medici, the first queen of France from this family, were born. Here came for orders the monk-artist Filippo Lippi, Leonardo da Vinci, Sandro Botticelli, and Michelangelo lived in this palace for almost four years. I will tell you how he ended up in this palace, under what rights he lived here, how and why he left. You will see the remarkable architecture and frescoes of the Renaissance era, soak up the atmosphere of this magical place.
