About this experience
Our tour will be dedicated to Florence and the Florentines. You will learn who lived on this land in ancient times and in the 'gray centuries', whose stories are preserved in local homes, and which famous personalities influenced the city's development. Among them were: Michelangelo and Brunelleschi, the Medici and da Vinci, Brodsky and Dostoevsky.
What to Expect
You will walk through the historic center and see many stunning ancient buildings: the 14th-century church of Santa Maria Novella, the Medici Chapels, the Pitti Palace, and the house of Lisa Gherardini, whose portrait was begun by da Vinci. I will tell you:
- Who lived on this land before the arrival of the Romans and the founding of the city;
- Why John the Baptist is the patron saint of Florence;
- Where the magical sign of abracadabra can be found on the walls of some houses;
- How the Florentine evenings of Dostoevsky, Brodsky, and Tchaikovsky passed;
- Why one of the city's squares is dedicated to the Demidovs;
- How the tragic love story of the great Duke of Tuscany, Francesco I, unfolded;
- And other interesting facts!
