About this experience
Florence is filled with legends from its foundation — in the names of both famous and lesser-known Florentines, on grand squares and medieval streets, in the architecture of churches and sculptures. I will reveal fascinating stories, sharing the comical and tragic in the history of the Renaissance city. We will walk through the main spots — from the Duomo cathedral to Dante's quarter.
What to Expect
Engaging stories about the Florentines
In 1.5 hours, Florence will be unveiled to you through stories of its inhabitants — real facts, curious incidents, folklore, and legends passed down through generations. Some are linked to famous townspeople — the Medici dynasty, Leonardo da Vinci, Dante, Michelangelo, while others involve ordinary but extraordinary Florentines. Discover why jewelers once punished local boys, where the head of a horned bull came from on the cathedral, and how Michelangelo immortalized a debtor — you will learn about this and much more on the walk.
Postcard-worthy places and legends around every corner
You will pass through the squares of Santo Spirito, Strozzi, Signoria, and of course, the Duomo with its magnificent cathedral, by the Baptistery, the Loggia del Porcellino, and the bronze piglet that fulfills wishes. You will visit several small churches and stroll through the medieval quarter with towers, where families lived whose disputes Dante described in the 'Divine Comedy.' Against the backdrop of Florentine treasures, I will also reveal facts and legends about the architecture of churches and explain how great artists and sculptors 'live' in the city.
