About this experience
Food and wine are intertwined with rituals that are sacredly observed in Italy. Many are similar, but each region and city in the country has its own unique culinary traditions. If you are a true foodie or just want to feel like a Florentine for a day, I recommend this tour. You will be able to try a variety of Tuscan delicacies, leisurely stroll through traditional markets, grocery shops, historic cafes for gelato, cozy trattorias, and wine shops. You will also taste real 'street food', which Florentine butchers have been selling in small kiosks for centuries: tripe, lampredotto, and Florentine-style intestines. And of course, you will learn about the gastronomic habits and favorite places of the locals.
What to Expect
- First of all, we will, of course, visit the city's main market - a triumph of gastronomic abundance, where depending on the season, I will offer you a choice to taste typical Florentine delicacies: truffle products, cheeses, pâtés, and several types of Tuscan 'cantuccini' cookies. I will tell you about the ingredients and serving methods.
- Then I propose to visit a small charming wine shop, located away from the main tourist paths, where the charismatic winemaker Leonardo will allow us to taste several types of locally produced wines.
- Did you know that ice cream was invented in Florence in the 16th century? I will tell you the story of the creation of Italian ice cream, and if you wish, we can familiarize ourselves with the step-by-step method of making this divine delicacy and taste several seasonal flavors!
- And of course, the experience will not be complete without getting acquainted with real Florentine 'street food', which you will not find in any other Italian city. Along the way, I will show you where Michelangelo himself liked to have lunch and how Florentine families used to sell wine.
- Depending on your tastes and preferences, I will recommend the best trattorias and restaurants in the city and places where you can taste various Tuscan dishes.
- If you enjoy unusual flavor combinations, I will help you reserve a table in a magical place where, on one of the evenings, you can have a unique and unforgettable gastronomic experience. It is advisable to book a table at least a week in advance, as this is the smallest and coziest 'restaurant' you have ever visited. There are only five tables there!
- At the end of the evening, all the flavors of Florence will come together for you into a single image of what is called 'dolce vita'. You will understand why Italians in general and Florentines in particular are so proud of their gastronomic culture and can talk about it endlessly.
