About this experience
Cities, like people, cannot make a first impression twice. To make Amsterdam more than just another European city with narrow streets and a multifaceted history for you, I will gladly accompany you and introduce you to the vibrant symbols of the capital. You will relate the tulips, bicycles, canals, and Dutch cheeses of imaginary Amsterdam to its real image. You will find out where to find excellent places for tastings and what not to miss on Dam Square and in the famous districts!
What to expect
Main squares, streets, and quarters
We will start our day royal-style. We will be greeted at a first-class restaurant - this ancient secret place where we will try a hot drink with traditional apple pie topped with whipped cream. By the way, if you want to have a taste of Elvis, you will have to give him the whipped cream!
On the central Dam Square, I will outline the city's emergence and its history of development. There are many attractions here that are important not to miss on your first date with Amsterdam. You will learn about the collection of the oldest branch of the Madame Tussauds Museum and its Dutch features. Get acquainted with the history of the ancient Royal Palace. On Damrak street, we will talk about how it got the nickname of Amsterdam's Wall Street and what makes the local craft workshops interesting. At Rembrandt Square, we will remember the legendary artist and walk through the scandalous Red Light District. Additionally, I will introduce you to the Tower of Tears and the room where women who fly at night on broomsticks were executed.
Dutch cheeses
We have a delicious stop planned - we will enter Cheese Heaven! Here, charming girls in national costumes will treat you to cheeses of several types, including lavender, beer, and coconut-flavored cheese. And I will reveal to you the secret of why cheese is round.
Churches of Amsterdam
The largest, oldest and lightest church in the city, Oude Kerk, and the largest Roman Catholic temple in the capital - St. Nicholas Church - will be a reason to touch upon the religious side of the Dutch life and pay attention to preferences in architectural styles of church construction.
