About this experience
What is it like to have a first date with a city? Timid steps along old streets turning into confident strides, immersing yourself in the history of the past and national cuisine. You will discover a whole world of events, as Rome is truly the Eternal City, where everything has already been and repeats itself anew, and during our walk you will feel the 'heartbeat' of the city, finding yourself in it.
What to Expect
Roman Stories
Walking through squares, streets, and past famous fountains, we seem to leaf through millennia of history: from the times of ancient shepherds to the global power of the Roman Empire and its decline. I will tell you about local traditions, customs, and legends, about emperors, their armies, and the common people. Passing by the palaces of papal families, we will talk about their owners, hidden precious stones, and castles lost in card games. The solemn and snow-white Palazzo Venezia will reveal the topics of the economic crisis at the end of the 19th century, the overthrow of papal authority, the unification of Italy, and the general emigration, when three-quarters of the population left their homeland in search of a better life. And next to Palazzo Venezia, we will remember Mussolini's speeches from a small balcony. So much has happened in the Eternal City!
Best Views of the City
At the magnificent Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona, you will hear about Italian geniuses, the triumph of creative thought and skill, as well as how modern restorers take care of preserving cultural heritage. You will see the Capitoline, Palatine, and Aventine Hills - the Roman hills where the city was born, where we will talk about the geese that saved the capital, chariot races, and the famous story of the abduction of the Sabine brides. Taking a secret path, we will walk to the Roman and Imperial Forums, admire the masterpieces of Michelangelo and the Pantheon, or even have the courage to choose quiet courtyards and narrow streets of the historic center instead of famous monuments.
Italian Delicacies
If you can't resist, you can treat yourself to a cup of traditional espresso on the terrace of the Capitoline Museum with a wonderful view of the domes of the churches around. Or on the square near the Pantheon, indulge in classic Roman (not Italian!) ice cream, with its unique taste, and hear the legend about it. I will also show you a real sausage paradise for those who want to try local cheeses, wine, and, of course, traditional 'panino con porchetta' (pork sandwich) in a small family shop, where it's always crowded and full of people. Such an atmosphere of grocery stores is also a hallmark of multifaceted Rome.
