About this experience
Exploring the Old Town of Kaleiçi, you will feel like you are in the 18-19th centuries: here the movement of cars is restricted, no one is in a hurry, cozy and slightly old-fashioned shops are everywhere. These soulful streets have seen my childhood and youth - and I will gladly share with you sincere stories about local life, traditions, and cultural features.
What to expect
History and legends of the Old Town
Kaleiçi is the heart and soul of Antalya. You will learn who and when the Old Town was built, who lived here before, and who lives here now. You will also explore the preserved Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Turkish buildings and learn their rich history. In addition, you will visit the Old Port and climb to the observation platform with a view of the Mediterranean Sea, the Taurus Mountains, and Konyaaltı Beach.
Kaleiçi through the centuries
You will see the main attractions of the Old Town: the Hadrian's Gate, built in honor of the Roman emperor, the Republic Square, the "truncated" Kesik Minaret, and the Corkut Mosque, which has been both a pagan and Christian temple. You will also enjoy the sun-drenched orange tiled roofs, picturesque courtyards, and colorful houses!
