About this experience
Sunny Antalya hides many secrets that I will gladly share with you. Together we will walk through the labyrinths of the Old Town Kaleici - and through the ages from Ancient Rome to modernity. You will explore mosques and learn about the mindset of Muslims, enjoy panoramas, and stroll through the harbor. I will focus on your interests and help you fall in love with Antalya!
What to Expect
This meeting will be in the format of a friendly pleasant walk. Write to me - and we can adjust the route according to your wishes and needs. We will not have a dry excursion in the usual sense of the word, allow me to step away from the standards and immerse you in a world of unconventional views on mundane things.
Old Town Kaleici - ancient place of attraction
On the narrow streets, we will first find objects of the Roman Empire, which ruled ruthlessly for 1000 years. During a leisurely walk, we will visit three panoramic platforms with marvelous views of landmarks, the Taurus Mountains, and the Mediterranean Sea. You will be interested in the small Ethnographic Museum of Antalya, the caravanserai, and, of course, the picturesque port. And if the entrance to the roof is open, you will also see the Old Town from an unusual perspective.
A glimpse of epochs through their names
Historical figures will come alive before you with their deeds, doubts, and successes. The Pergamon king Attal II, Emperor Hadrian, brave sultan-conquerors, reformer Ataturk: learning about them, you will immerse yourself in different epochs - Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Ottoman, and modern. I will also talk about modern secular Turkey, traditions, and rituals that remain important to this day.
About religion and mosques - clear and fascinating
Which gods did the founder of Antalya worship? We will talk about faith in this land from paganism to late Christianity and examine Muslim concepts. The backdrop will be the mosques of the Old Town. You will uncover the secret of the Kiveli complex, where you will see the House of Dervishes and a 14th-century mosque. In the Kaleici harbor, you will visit the cozy Iskele Mosque, near which a pure spring flows. You will pass by a truncated minaret. There will be many more mosques - each preserving its own legend.
