Exploring Muir Woods, Wineries, Yachts: Private Tour to Sausalito and Sonoma from San Francisco
About this experience
Muir Woods and wineries are the most popular tourist attractions north of San Francisco. In the first half of the day, you will stroll through the sequoia forest where the temperature remains the same year-round, and then find yourself in the warm Sonoma, enjoying the beauty of hills, vineyards, and tasting the famous wines of California.
What to Expect
Yachts, Hippies, and 'The Lone Sailor'
We will pick you up from your hotel in San Francisco and head to Sausalito across the 'Golden Gate' bridge. Our first stop will be just past the bridge at the viewpoint near the 'Lone Sailor' monument. From here, you will have a mesmerizing view of the bay. Then we will have breakfast at a cafe with panoramic views and explore Sausalito. We will walk along the luxurious waterfront with numerous yachts, admire the landscape reminiscent of Mediterranean villages of France and Italy. You will see 400 houseboats - a commune created by hippies from remnants of a local shipyard.
On the way, I will tell you about the history of California and San Francisco and happily answer all questions about life in America.
Tallest Trees
Our next stop is the Muir Woods, located in a valley along the Pacific Ocean coast. Here grow the tallest trees on earth (140 meters!). I will tell you the story of the appearance and disappearance of sequoias on the continent, why they are only found here, how old they are, and why the temperature in this forest never rises above +20 degrees.
We will spend 1-1.5 hours here and then head to Sonoma Valley.
Wine Tasting
In Sonoma, you will visit 2 wineries. You will taste local wines, learn the secrets of their production, and also appreciate the taste of different types of olive oil. Then we will visit the central square of the city. Here you will find about 30 different restaurants - Mexican (Sonomas was the former extreme point of Mexico), American, Italian. We will choose one you like and have lunch there.
Organizational Details
- The tour is conducted in a sedan or luxury SUV. There is water available for each participant in the car.
