About this experience
Langkawi is not just palms, sea, and white sandy beaches. Join me to explore the famous Kilim Nature Park! This excursion does not involve jungle hiking or walking in the heat—it is suitable for travelers of all ages. We will travel on a private motorboat with a canopy, enjoy the river landscapes with mangrove groves, and observe the local wildlife.
What to Expect
Stories about the Island Landscape and Nature
Langkawi is a unique amazing ecosystem. I will tell you about the formation of mountain rocks on the island, ancient limestone, and the survival secrets of tropical trees growing right on the cliffs. About the tide and ebb system, their impact on water salinity and soil composition. You will learn how mangrove trees have adapted to life in salty water, what role they play in nature, and why it is so important to preserve their population on Earth.
Meeting the Inhabitants of the Park
You will observe sea eagles—the symbols of the island—from the boat and uncover the peculiarities of their survival, reproduction, and diet. You will also get to know the amazing world of waterfaring crab-eating macaques that come out onto the mangrove mudflats at low tide in search of food. Perhaps some of them will come to our boat for a treat! Additionally, we will make a stop at a cave with flying foxes. We will walk through it with flashlights and observe its inhabitants.
Karst Rocks, Crocodile Cave, Fish Farm, and More
After passing through the limestone Crocodile Cave by boat, we will head towards the open sea. You will see ancient karst rocks, wild beaches, and the Thai archipelago of Koh Adang from the water. In the end, we will land at a floating fish farm where I will show you various inhabitants of the Andaman Sea: mangrove stingray, nurse shark, agile tuna, and grouper. Also, a delicious lunch awaits you at the farm: rice, chicken with soy sauce, vegetables, and fresh grilled seabass.
