If you want to see that Thailand's nature can surpass the Amazon rainforest, this route is made for you! You will climb limestone cliffs, trek through dense jungles, and marvel at the beauty while gliding on a boat across Cheo Lan Lake. On your way back, you will visit a Buddhist temple and immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere of the Ta Pom mangrove forest.
What to Expect
Treasures of Khao Sok National Park
You will find yourself in one of the most beautiful places in Thailand with ancient rocks, karst caves, bamboo groves, and jungles that can rival the Amazon rainforests in age and scope. However, the highlight will be Cheo Lan Lake - Thailand's largest lake encircled by cliffs. You will glide on a long-tail boat, learn how the reservoir was formed, and why two Thai villages remained at the bottom. The best photo opportunities await you at the Three Brothers rocks, which have a local legend associated with them.
Wat Bang Rieng Temple
On the way back, we will visit the Wat Bang Rieng temple - a masterpiece of modern Thai architecture. You will admire the grand scale of the complex, which was influenced by King Rama IX. You will pass through an entrance guarded by bright Nagas, observe buildings in the styles of Thai and Chinese Buddhism, learn about a ritual that requires a pouch of coins, see intricate paintings, and the giant stupa of Rat Uppatam.
Magic of the Ta Pom Mangrove Forest
Next stop is the fantastic Tha Pom Klong Song Nam park. You will be inside a unique ecosystem formed by fresh and saltwater, swamp, and mangrove forests. You will walk on wooden aerial walkways, breathe in the thick fragrant air, relax in the silence broken only by bird songs. And you will admire the bright blue water of the stream, its banks entwined with the tentacle-like roots of trees resembling octopus arms.
