About this experience
This journey will take you to the most amazing natural corners of Azerbaijan, which could have appeared only in the 'Land of Fire'. You will capture enchanting moments on the shore of the pink Masazyr Lake, stroll among the cosmic landscapes of the mud volcanoes of Gobustan, and after sunset find yourself on the burning mountain Yanardag – one of the last 'eternal fires' on Earth. And you will be accompanied by stories about the natural treasures of Azerbaijan, which are organically intertwined with local traditions and legends.
What to Expect
Masazyr Pink Lake – Hidden Wonder of Nature
In the world, there are only eight salty pink lakes, and one of them you will see during our journey. To be more precise – two! And if Masazyr Lake, the 'Dead Sea' of Azerbaijan, is sometimes inaccessible for visits, then its younger brother, about which many local residents do not know, can be approached at any time. You will learn what both water bodies owe their unique color to and, of course, take magical photos on the gently pink surface of the lakes.
Landscapes of the Gobustan Mud Volcanoes
Next, we will head to Gobustan, where you will be presented with 'Martian' panoramas of the mud volcanoes, another natural phenomenon of Azerbaijan. This place will inspire you to take atmospheric shots, and I will tell you about the healing power of the mixture of mud and oil that erupts from the depths of the earth, and share the secrets of mud therapy. And after that, you will explore the amazing 'boiling' mud lake and the remains of one of the last oil lakes of Absheron.
Fire Mountain Yanardag
You will be transported back to the time when flames erupted from the ground everywhere in Azerbaijan. At the burning mountain Yanardag, you will understand where the name 'Land of Fire' came from and why Zoroastrianism – the religion of fire worship – flourished here. And though millennia later the fires turned into oil derricks, the flame of Yanardag still burns just as brightly.
