About this experience
The space feels within reach from Yerevan! At least that's how it looks from the scientific center on the slope of Mount Aragats. I will tell you about the plans of the Aragats Center and why it is inactive now. I will take you to the anechoic chamber and the solar station. Afterwards, we can visit the observatory and observe the stars and planets there.
What to Expect
We will visit the Aragats Scientific Center NIIIR - I will tell you who it was created for and what research it was intended for. We will enter the control panel, from where operators managed the antenna, and the anechoic chamber, where antenna calibration tests were conducted from all over the USSR. We will approach the 'Arev' station, which was supposed to power the entire scientific center with solar energy, and see many other interesting locations.
If the tour takes place in the evening and the weather is favorable, after visiting the center, we can go to the Byurakan Observatory, where the active Schmidt telescope is located, and observe the stars and planets there.
After the tour, we can also visit a restaurant with a beautiful view of the Aragats Gorge.
