About this experience
Beautiful views of snowy peaks are not the only thing the Aragats mountain range can boast of. It is here, on the southern slope, that the Byurakan Observatory is located, offering you views of the starry sky through powerful telescopes. In addition to the astronomical center, you will visit the fortress of Amberd and, if you wish, one of the wineries that the region is famous for.
What to Expect
Mountains and Stars
- We head to the highest mountain in Armenia - Aragats. Along the way, you will be accompanied by breathtaking landscapes.
- We will make a stop at Amberd Fortress at an altitude of 2300 m. You will see stone buildings - a 7th-century castle and an 11th-century church. Taking a stroll, you will appreciate not only the ancient architecture but also the mountainous expanses around.
- And here we are on the southern slope of Aragats, at the Byurakan Observatory. You will go inside and be able to observe stars, planets, and other celestial bodies through powerful telescopes. The astronomer guides will answer all your questions.
➕ If desired, you can add a stop at one of the roadside eateries or a winery to the route, where you will learn about grape cultivation and wine production from local experts, as well as taste different varieties.
Organizational Details
- The trip is conducted without a guide, the transfer is organized with a driver from our team. Additionally, you can order the services of our guide: €50 for a group of up to 3 people, €60 for a group of 4 to 6 people. The guide will tell you all the most interesting things about each visited site along the route.
- There are hiking walks - please dress according to the weather and choose comfortable shoes.
- The transfer is done by Kia Forte 2021 cars, Toyota Alphard Minivan, but upon request, we can provide elegant and premium segment cars - the cost and other details are discussed separately.

- Entrance tickets to Amberd Fortress - €4/person.
- Entrance to the Byurakan Observatory with stargazing through telescopes - €10/person.
