About this experience
Each country has its own traditions and features for celebrating Christmas and New Year. During our walk through the old city, you will learn and feel the magic of the most important holiday for the Portuguese.
Program
- Baixa, Chiado, Bairro Alto – here, in the city center, Lisboetas rush in search of the best and most unusual New Year gifts, as here you will find everything: from traditional Portuguese souvenirs to trendy accessories by modern Portuguese designers. The main Lisbon Christmas tree stands here, the streets are illuminated with New Year lights, and the churches and squares are adorned with Christmas nativity scenes.
- We will visit coffee shops where you can try Christmas sweets that are baked only at this time of year, and have a cup of aromatic coffee, hot chocolate, famous Portuguese wines, and cherry liqueur.
- We will visit the historical squares of the city, the Church of Saint Roch, one of Lisboetas' favorite viewing points, shops, boutiques, the tasting room of the first winery in Portugal, a cheese and wine bar, and much more!
- If desired, you can buy the best gifts in century-old shops or souvenir boutiques, or maybe at a bookseller's or in an art studio or antique shop. Porcelain, silver, gold, leather, cork, ceramics... scented soap or embroidered tablecloth for the festive table. Everyone will find something to their taste!
And everywhere people wish each other: 'Bom Natál e Feliz Ano Novo!' – 'Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!' And we wish everyone happiness and love in the new year!
