About this experience
Eastern Madeira is no less interesting and attractive than the west coast: here you will encounter breathtaking panoramas, textured mountain peaks, picturesque towns, and of course, amazing seafood. Our journey will take you to the easternmost point of the island, to Santana with its triangular houses, to a beach with volcanic sand, and to Porto da Cruz, where exquisite rum has been produced for over a century. Get ready to taste Madeira, inhale the forest aromas, and fall in love with the natural beauty of the eastern part of the island!
What to Expect
Eastern Madeira from the Best Angles
Our trip route is designed to cover all the key points of the eastern part of the island: you will climb to Pico do Arieiro with stunning panoramas, collect eucalyptus cones in the English Santo-da-Serra Park, enjoy the surroundings from the platform above Madeira Airport, and visit the viewpoint of Machico, where I will tell you a romantic legend about the name of this place and interesting facts about the places on our way. If the weather is in our favor, we will visit the largest golf club with magnificent views of eastern Madeira, Desertas Island, and Porto Santo. And from the easternmost point of the island - Cape St. Lawrence, you will be amazed by the breathtaking views of both the southern and northern coasts of Madeira!
Unusual Beaches of Madeira
Along the way, we will make a stop to swim and watch the fish in the crystal clear waters of one of the beaches in eastern Madeira. We can relax on a beach with yellow sand from the Sahara or visit a picturesque beach with black volcanic sand. The choice is yours!
Feel Like a Local
After dining on freshly caught seafood dishes, we will visit a rare rum factory in Porto da Cruz, whose mechanisms have been working for over 150 years! You can try real rum, admire the profile of the Eagle Rock, and, if you wish, visit Santana to stroll among the charming triangular houses.
Levada Walk and Wine Tasting
On the shady walking path of the levada, you will relax surrounded by the harmonious nature of the island, immerse yourself in the world of sounds and aromas of the forest, and then enjoy the wonderful views from the levada's balcony. And the final touch of our journey can be a tasting of Madeira wine from the collection of a local winery, which has been collected by generations of Madeirans.
