What to expect
Venice's history in the Doge's Palace
On the tour of the Doge's Palace, you will encounter Venetian Gothic architecture of the 14th century, explore magnificent halls adorned with paintings by world-renowned artists, and dive into the history of Venice. I will tell you about the unique form of Venetian government, the history of the palace, its functions, and much more. The Doge's Palace will also surprise you with a collection of ancient weapons, and in the prison section adjacent to the main building, you will feel the horror of unfortunate prisoners who once walked across the Bridge of Sighs and cast a last glance at the Grand Canal.
Masterpieces of St. Mark's Square Museums
After getting acquainted with the history of Venice, you will immerse yourself in the world of Venetian art at St. Mark's Square - we will visit the magnificent complex of museums, including the Correr Museum, the monumental hall of the Marciana Library, and the archaeological museum. You will see the apartments of the Habsburg Emperor and Empress Sisi, Napoleon's ballroom, masterpieces of 16th-century painting by Titian, Paolo Veronese, Carpaccio, Bellini, as well as magnificent sculptures by Antonio Canova, known as the 'second Phidias.' In addition, a part of the Correr Museum is dedicated to the history and inner life of Venice: shipbuilding, local coins, interesting traditions, and crafts.
