About this experience
Three districts - Gothic, Raval, and Born - hold an incredible amount of stories and attract travelers from all over the world. I will tell you the legends and myths associated with these amazing places, where truth and fiction have long been intertwined into a whimsically fantastic tangle! I promise - you won't be bored!
Three Districts
Gothic Quarter - the heart of medieval Barcelona. Aristocrats and church servants, craftsmen and intellectuals lived here. Most of the buildings in the district were built in the Middle Ages. The twisting alleys of the Gothic still hold legends of the Counts of Barcelona, great battles, and holy martyrs.
Meanwhile, Raval historically housed those who had no place in the city - murderers, thieves, and fraudsters. The most noisy bars and cheap brothels of Barcelona were located here. Sailors whose ships came to port also enjoyed walking in Raval. By the beginning of the 20th century, even the police were afraid to venture here! But don't worry, Raval is safe now. Although the old houses can tell a lot about its dark past!
Born, on the other hand, remained a haven for 'sea people' - fishermen and sailors. It was here that medieval knight tournaments took place and the liveliest city celebrations were organized. Born remains one of the most refined districts of old Barcelona.
Program
During our walk, we will visit the main attractions of the three districts:
- In Raval - we will drink water from the Canaletas fountain, visit the famous medieval hospital of Santa Creu, step into the most luxurious bar frequented by Pablo Picasso, touch the mustache of the giant cat Botero, and see one of Antoni Gaudi's masterpieces.
- In the Gothic Quarter - a visit to the magnificent Cathedral and its 13 geese living in the courtyard, then a stroll in the square near the Royal Palace, a sit on the famous staircase that Christopher Columbus walked, and a view of Barcelona's oldest house.
- In Born, we will enter the amazing Santa Maria del Mar Cathedral, built in the 14th century, see the memorial to the city's fallen defenders, walk along the famous Passeig del Born, and reach the Ciutadella Park, where a former military fortress stood.
Additional option - photo session
During the tour, I can arrange a photo session for you (individual, family, or love story) in the most beautiful places of our route. This will extend the tour by approximately an hour, and within a week, you will receive 30+ photos with color correction and retouching in a lifestyle style. The cost of such a photo session is €125.
