About this experience
Fuerteventura was the first island of the Canary Archipelago to emerge from the depths of the Atlantic Ocean millions of years ago. It will captivate you with its magical barren landscapes, windmills, small churches, cliffs, and lighthouses. I will show you all the most interesting and beautiful places on the island, share its amazing stories and legends.
What to Expect
Historical Artifacts and Island Life
I will show you well-kept churches and lovingly restored windmills, watchtowers and traditional residential houses. Additionally, you will see majestic lighthouses at the very edge of the water and on top of a rocky cliff just a few dozen miles from Africa. Moreover, I will share eerie legends of a mysterious mansion hidden in the wilderness.
Betancuria – the First Capital of the Island
We will drive along a picturesque road to the top of the Betancuria mountain range and descend into its heart, where the island's first Christian settlement is located. In the early 15th century, it was founded by French conquistadors. You will learn about the history of Christianity's emergence in the Canary Archipelago and walk the streets that remember the first European adventurers.
Idyllic Nature
Fuerteventura is a peaceful corner of silence, tranquility, and fairy-tale landscapes. You will admire the turquoise waters of the ocean surrounded by white dunes, whimsical cliffs, transparent lagoons, and giant palm trees. Time on the island seems to have stopped, showcasing the fleeting beauty of nature that has withstood the rapid pressure of civilization.
